Content items (with the exception of static content items) are contained within Categories and Sections. This allows for the organization and grouping of content. A word picture of how content items, categories and sections work together might be helpful before you begin. Think of a Section as a virtual filing cabinet. A Category is a drawer within that cabinet and a Content Item is a file folder within the drawer. Thinking of it that way, and depending on the size of your website, you will probably only want one or two Sections, a few Categories and any number of Content items. Keep in mind that you can start small and expand at a later date as your site grows. Before creating a content item, therefore, you may or may not want to create a new category and/or a new section, first. For directions on how to create a new category and section, see Creating A New Category & Section . Now that you have either created a new category/section or decided to use an existing one, you may proceed to create a content item. From the back end of your site, click on the Content > All Content Items
Click on the new button. Give your new content a title by typing in the title box. Ttile alias is not a required field. Choose a section from the section drop down box. Choose a category from the category drop down box.
Type your content into the text box, or if you have
your content already in a file, you can copy/paste to the text box to
save time. If *copying and pasting from a Word document or another
application that has a lot of formatting, you may choose to use the Insert Word Document *Note: Images will not copy into your content using copy/paste method. To insert images into a content item, see section, "Insert An Image Into a Content Item" From the Parameters Tab (to the right of the text box) you may choose options such as, to show or not show Page Title, Category Title and Section Title.
Now you can choose one of the following in order for your content item to show up on your site: 1. Have the content item show on the front page. To do so, click on the Publishing tab to the right of your text box. Check the 'Show on Frontpage' box. OR 2. Link the content item to a menu item. To link a content item to a menu item, select the Link to Menu tab to the top right of the text box. Choose a menu (mainmenu is used for content items in the center column of your site), then type in a name for your menu item. Click the Link to Menu button.
Click the save Verify the addition. Its always a good idea to verify you addition on the front end of your site after you've added new content, to make sure that it has been added properly. Go to the front end of your site, refresh your screen and see your changes. If you have linked the content to a menu item, the menu item will appear in one of your side columns as a menu item. Note: You may change the order of your menu items by going to: Menu > mainmenu. Use the reorder buttons to rearrange the menu items. If you have chosen the item to show on the front page, you will see it in the center of your screen on your front page. Note: You may change the order of your front page articles by going to Content > Frontpage Manager. Use the reorder buttons to rearrange the content items.
